Thoughts of the Pops
No more Tim Kash! Hooray! Instead the show opened with Fearne Cotton wearing a short skirt (oh, and some other bloke) which we consider to be a massive improvement. Here's what else we learnt:-
- Maroon 5 singer blokey does an odd leg/whole body shaking dance. This is presumably intended to convey the powerful emotions contained within the song, but instead has the unfortunate effect of making him look like an overexcited dog.
- Twista's lazy slice of laid back hip-hop, Sunshine, would be much improved if, rather than featuring Anthony Hamilton, it featured Anthony Daniels of C3P0 fame.
- The one stocking look being rocked by one of The 411 is possibly the worst looking fashion statement since big t-shirts, belts and leggings.
- The new Robbie Williams video for Radio features wet cheerleaders and a shirtless Robbie. This is, we believe, known as "pulling out all the stops".
- If Busted had been formed by an evil record company committee, they would be the Lostprophets.
- Nadia from out of TV's Big Brother is planning a pop career. Only an unfunny and unoriginal fool would suggest she do a cover of Man! I Feel Like a Woman.
- Leave is a song about coming home from work and telling a jerk of a co-habiting boyfriend to bugger off because the relationship is over. Jojo is a 13 year old popstar. Who in their right mind decided that these two decidedly disparate facts should be forced together into some weird coupling which is slightly disturbing? Good song though, mainly thanks to the shouty bits, which are clearly the key to pop success.
- Natasha Bedingfield is still number one. We may well be falling in love with the camera punching popstrel and her floaty skirts.
